Who The Hell Do You Think You Are?
Do we really need another t-shirt company?
The Story
I have always been Mr. Nice Guy. I have been a part of over 30 startups. Those have been partnerships or solo ventures, and I always put my partners or clients first. I now believe that because of this, none of those 30 startups could reach the potential that they could have. Some of them did pretty well in the scheme of things, and some people would love to make as much money as I do. But I did not become ultra-successful because I was just too nice. Don't play small take charge of your life and PowerUp.
I read a lot. I have read many entrepreneur books and biographies of great people, but I have always wanted to be nice and not rock the boat or make anyone upset, and because of that, I have been walked on rightfully because I let people do it. I remember the first time I sat down to read the book by Robert Greene, 48 laws of power. I thought it was a joke book at first. This guy can't be serious about this shit. I only got to the 10th law before I put it down and said this goes against everything I believe, and then I would bitch and whine about why I can't be more successful.
It wasn't until I read a book by Gene Simons called "On Power" that something interesting hit me. Gene said I know this stuff sounds harsh, but I didn't create it, and you can ignore it and be Mr. Nice Guy and not have the power and success you want, or you can use the things that work to gain power and with that power, you can choose to do all the good you wish to, but it is a cut-throat business. I realized you don't have to be evil to be a badass, but you have to stand up and play the game. You can not like it all you want, but that will not change the world. But what can change the world is for you to use the power mindset to create your world of change.
I went back and read the 48 laws of power in a whole new light. I took notes and did a deep dive into everything that deals with power and achievement, not just that book but many more. I even wrote my book.
Why powerup brand?
We should not be afraid to be powerful. We should show the world who we are, and you are not someone to be pushed around or trifled with. You are your brand whether you like it or not. When people look at you, they make a judgment. When you wear a PowerUP Brand shirt, you tell them exactly who you are. If you wear a political shirt, I could make judgments, but I don't know anything, but when you see someone wearing a shirt that says "Make the hard decisions." That person is probably a badass, not some blowhard who doesn't do anything with their life.
Never apologize for being strong. Man or woman, whatever race you are, you are the powerful person that you choose to be. Nobody else can take that away from you. If you let the world define you, you will not leave a mark on the planet.
